Deputy Sheriff Clifton Taylor’s end of watch was on Saturday, April 23, 2011, after he and other deputies responded to a domestic disturbance near Venus that afternoon.  Upon arriving at the scene, deputies began searching for the male subject. Deputy Sheriff Taylor was shot as he opened the door to a shed located near the property.  He was genuinely a selfless young man, many times telling  others “Let me go first, you all have kids.”  This is indicative of Deputy Sheriff Taylor’s noble character.

His dreams and perseverance of working in law enforcement despite several setbacks, was made a reality when he was hired by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked for three years until his untimely death.  His first love was making people laugh with his witty and unique sense of humor.   He was committed to starting a non-profit organization to assist child victims of violence as well as a Christmas bicycle program for these children.
